Why Galaxy Lock Screen Notifications Show as Icons Only

Your Galaxy shows lock-screen notifications as a row of small app icons because that is One UI's default — the phone is not broken, and the full notifications are one tap away. What the icons-only view is

How to get full notifications back

If you would rather see cards, the setting lives in Settings under Notifications → Lock screen (recent One UI versions phrase the choice as icon-only versus detailed views; older ones bury it slightly deeper). Switch it and the lock screen shows expanded cards with the app, sender, and message preview, much like iOS. Switch it back any time — plenty of people prefer the quiet version once they know it is a choice.

Privacy is the other half of it

The icons-only default also means message content is not readable off a locked phone on a desk. If you switch to detailed cards, the adjacent "hide content" setting controls whether previews show before you unlock — worth setting deliberately rather than discovering at the wrong moment.
