Why mock one up rather than screenshot a real post

Two reasons, and both are about the post not existing yet. If something has to be approved before it goes live, a picture of it is easier to react to than a paragraph in a document. And if you are illustrating a point — in a slide, an article, a class — a made-up post lets you make it exactly, without putting a real person’s username in front of an audience that never asked to be there.

Text posts and image posts

Both work. Leave the body and the image empty for a title-only post, add just the body for a text post, or drop in a picture and it renders under the title the way Reddit lays out a photo. Flair is optional and sits under the title where Reddit puts it.

Everything stays on your computer

The card is drawn in the page and exported by your browser. An image you add is read from your own file and never uploaded.

Questions

What is this for?

Showing a post that does not exist yet. Marketers and community managers use it to get a post approved before it goes up, designers drop one into a deck or a social mockup, and writers use it to illustrate a point in an article without screenshotting a real person's post.

Can I set the upvotes and comment count?

Yes, both, as free text — so 12.4k works as well as 47. The same goes for the timestamp, which is a plain field rather than a real clock, so you can write it however Reddit would at that age.

Does it do image posts as well as text?

Both. Add an image and it renders under the title the way a picture post does; leave it out and you get a text post. The body is optional too, so a title-only post is one field.

Does my image get uploaded?

No. It is read from your own file by the browser and drawn straight into the preview. Nothing is transmitted, and there is no server behind this page to receive it.

Is this affiliated with Reddit?

No. It is an unofficial mockup tool, and every part of the interface here is drawn from scratch rather than taken from Reddit's application. Reddit is a trademark of Reddit, Inc.
