Two layouts, because they do different jobs

Post is the card as it appears in a timeline: picture, name, handle, text, timestamp, and the counts underneath. It is what you want in a deck, a case study, a design mockup, or anywhere you are showing what a post looks like.

Square is the repost format: the words alone, set large on a square, with a small attribution line beneath. No counts, no borders. It exists because that is the shape that actually travels as an image, and cropping the first layout down never looks like it.

Everything stays on your computer

The card is drawn in the page and exported by your own browser. A profile picture you add is read from your file with the browser's file reader and drawn straight into the preview. Nothing is uploaded, because there is no server here to upload it to.

What it is for, and what it is not for

Mockups, slides, design work, your own posts written out properly, and invented examples. All fine.

Putting invented words into a real person's mouth is not. It is defamation in most places regardless of the tool used, and it is the one use this page will not help you with: the example is a made-up person for exactly that reason. If you need a real quote, screenshot the real thing and link to it.

Questions

Why not just take a real screenshot?

Because a real one comes with everything around it: your own sidebar, a promoted post, a cropped edge, the wrong theme, and whatever width your window happened to be. This gives you the post on its own at a consistent size, which is what a slide or a mockup needs. It also lets you write the text, which a screenshot obviously does not.

What is the square layout for?

It is the repost format: the text alone, large, on a square. No avatar row clutter, no engagement counts, nothing but the sentence. That is the shape that gets shared as an image, and it is a different job from showing a post in a timeline, so it is a separate layout rather than a crop.

Does my profile picture get uploaded?

No. The image is read from your own file with the browser's file reader and drawn straight into the preview. It never leaves your computer, and there is no server here to receive it.

Can I use this to make it look like someone said something?

You can type anything into it, the same as any image editor, and that does not make it true or lawful. Passing off invented words as a real person's is defamation in most places, and platforms remove it. Use it for mockups, for your own posts, for slides and for made-up examples. Do not use it to put words in a real person's mouth.

What size is the export?

The full post exports 1200 pixels wide with the height following the text. The square exports 1200 by 1200. Both render at twice the size shown on screen, so they stay sharp in a deck or on a retina display.
